Fair scheduling with bottleneck consideration in wireless ad-hoc networks

چکیده
networks attempts to balance the trade-off between fairness and channel utilization. In this paper, we first propose a topology-independent methodology to predict maximum achievable channel utilization under fairness constraint by two performance bounds. Based on the notion of bottlenecks introduced in prediction, we design a centralized and improved fair scheduling algorithm for wireless ad-hoc networks. We capture traffic load characteristics by using a proposed parameter that represents the " contending power " of nodes in the weighted flow contention graph. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm through both provable analysis and simulations , and discuss natural derivations of a fully distributed algorithm using our bottleneck-based analytic model.

The rapid advancement in wireless over wired has augmented the need for improving theQuality of Service (QoS) over such wireless links. However, the wireless ad hoc networkshave too low bandwidth, and establishing a QoS in these networks is a difficult issue. So,support of quality of service in ad hoc networks is the topical issue among the networkscience researchers. In this research we are go...
متن کاملLEBRP - A Lightweight and Energy Balancing Routing Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...

Abstract Ad hoc Wireless Networks, are networks formed by a collection of nodes through radio. In wireless networking environment, formidable challenges are presented. One important challenge is connection maintenance mechanism for power consumption. In this paper, a multi-objective optimal design is considered for ad-hoc networks which address the electrical power of nodes effects on cross-l...

The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...
متن کاملA Channel Adaptive Energy Efficient and Fair Scheduling Media Access Control Protocol for Mobile AdHoc Networks
Problem statement: A major drawback in the existing protocols in dealing with energy management issues is that the time varying nature of the wireless channels among the ad hoc nodes is ignored. Approach: This study proposed a channel adaptive energy efficient Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol, for efficient packets scheduling and queuing in an ad hoc network, with time varying characteristi...
